Daily Devotional with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

                                   The Fullness Of Christ

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13).

What is God’s purpose in training and edifying the Body of Christ? Why does He want us nurtured and brought up in the things of the Spirit? The answer is given to us in the 13th verse of our theme scripture: "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." His purpose is to bring us into the fullness of Christ—into the fullness of His understanding, wisdom, and glory. What a purpose!
No wonder John said in the sixteenth verse of the first chapter of his Gospel, "And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace." I urge you to take the time to meditate on this verse; it’s so powerful! It says of His fullness have we all received, grace heaped upon grace. What this means is that we have received in all fullness everything that is of deity in Christ Jesus. This isn’t just in measure, but in quality, and in the severalty of potentialities available in Him. All of His powers, all of His glory, might, strength and wisdom; everything that He represents—everything that’s contained in Him—we have received!
Recall the words of the Lord Jesus in John 5:26: "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself." Jesus had inherent life. He didn’t need more life from God. Now, the Bible says of His fullness: of all that He’s got, we have received. Meaning, you’ve received of His ability, wisdom, knowledge, glory and everything that makes Him who He is. Awesome reality!

Confession
I’ve received of God’s ability, wisdom, knowledge, and glory in full measure. I was born to rule and reign in life through Christ Jesus, having received abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
