                           Leaven of the Herodians

"Be careful," Jesus warned them. "Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod."
Mark 8:15

The leaven of the Herodians is the craving of sinful man that comes from being of the world and under the power of the god of this world—the devil.

Herodians follow the lust of their eyes, they give in to the lust of the flesh and they boast of the things that they possess and what they have accomplished. They are governed by self—self-interest, self-desire, self-focus, and self-pleasure.

Every vice that is in the sinful nature of man is able to influence and exert control over a Herodian, for they follow the call of the world and not of God. Greed, gambling, sexual perversion, murder, lust, robbery, covetousness, lying, and all the other sins listed in the Bible (Romans 1:29) become the driving force behind a Herodian.

God expects us to live differently, now that we have been born again. Galatians 5:16 says, “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Let us renounce the leaven of the Herodians and live the way God intends—according to His Spirit.
